The MALMS Mobile Airfield Light Monitoring System has been developed specifically to accurately measure the performance of High Intensity Lighting on airfield runways.
MALMS provides information for both regulatory authorities and airfield operators in a fast and efficient manner and has been developed by Tailor Made Systems Ltd following an extensive research program, commissioned by the Civil Aviation Authority, into the performance of high intensity lighting as installed at major airfields.
Runway and Roads Grip/Friction Testing.
Grip Tester is a trailer-based Continuous Friction Measuring Equipment (CFME). It works on a principle of measuring the skid resistance of a surface, generally a road or runway, by running a measuring wheel that slips or skids compared to two drive tyres.
The measuring wheel is mounted on an instrumented axle from which Grip Numbers, which are representative of the skid resistance, are computed. Skid resistance is always measured in the wet and so the Grip Tester incorporates a controlled water flow system to produce a film of water in front of the measuring tyre.
For Roads and airports, testing is done all year round.
Rubber Removal and Friction Restoration for Runways.
The Rubber Removal machine is a truck mounted surface cleaning system equipped with an ultra-high pressure water pump, rotating spray heads and a vacuum recovery tank.
It ensures optimal removal rates without damage to the runway surface. The most significant reason to be concerned about the buildup of rubber deposits is Safety. If you operate an airport with large jet aircraft, you will eventually have a deterioration of the pavement skid-resistance, or a reduction in friction coefficients, which is a problem for aircraft tires to grab and safely stop the aircraft.

Runway and Apron Marking.
Vanguard Systems and Services provide markings services for Airports utilising specialist paints and reflective beads for all markings as required by airports and the regulatory requirements.
The process includes existing marking removal utilising high pressure water jetting systems without damage to the runway surface and then the remarking takes place. This is done for both existing and new facilities.
